Privacy Policy

Nexus, from Longhorn Artists Connect

Nexus is a community app that helps University of Texas at Austin artists share their work and connect with each other. This policy explains what information the app stores, where it goes, and how you can control it. We've tried to keep it in plain language.

The short version

Information you provide

When you create a profile or share content, the app stores what you enter:

• Profile information: your name, UT email address, profile photo, bio, major/minor/certificate, graduation year, roles (e.g., filmmaker, musician), Instagram handle, and website link.
• Content you share: films, music, reels, scripts, project listings, and event listings you submit, including any photos, video, and audio they contain.
• Messages: direct messages you send to other users through the app.
• Feedback and reports: bug reports, feature requests, and content reports you submit.

Information collected automatically

• iCloud user identifier: Apple's CloudKit service assigns your iCloud account an anonymous identifier specific to this app. We use it to associate your profile, posts, and messages with you. It does not reveal your Apple ID email or personal iCloud details to us.

That's it. The app does not collect your location, contacts, browsing history, device identifiers for advertising, or usage analytics.

Where your data is stored

All shared data is stored in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) service in a database operated by Apple. Some data (such as your profile details) is also cached on your device so the app works smoothly. We do not run our own servers.

Who can see your information

• Other Nexus users can see your profile and anything you post to the app's public feeds.
• Message recipients can see the messages you send them.
• The app's developer can access the shared database for moderation, support, and maintenance.
• Apple hosts the data as our infrastructure provider, under its own privacy commitments.

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

How your information is used

Only to make the app work: showing your profile and posts to the community, delivering messages, moderating reported content, and responding to your feedback. Nothing else.

Data retention and deletion

• You can edit or delete your own posts and profile information in the app at any time.
• To delete your account and all associated data, use the deletion option in the app or email us at aidenweinstein11@gmail.com and we will remove your data from the shared database.
• Deleting the app from your device removes locally cached data but does not by itself delete content you shared to the community; use the steps above for that.

Security

Data is transmitted and stored using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure, which encrypts data in transit and at rest. Because there are no passwords, there are no app passwords for anyone to steal. Access to your account is protected by your device and iCloud security (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and Apple's account protections).

Children

Nexus is intended for university students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created a profile, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted in the app.
